Listing and Selling Gear - HELP
Author Last Post

Happy New Year AAC!

Hope all is well for each of you and yours as we start 2023. As previously indicated, I have been chipping away at my ridiculous collection of Audio Gear and have compiled a list for your review. Assume everything is for sale and all resemble offers are encourage and appreciated!

Thanks,

If you want to sell the items, I can assist. I have sold items via eBay and AudioGon for myself and for a couple of my elderly neighbors (vintage McIntosh items). Can you email me a list of what you have, and I can do a quick investigation of what they may go for (if at all) in online auctions. The hardest part of online auctions is the shipping of the items to the buyer(s). Big heavy items like floor standing speakers are the worst to try to ship. I usually sell those locally. You may also want to post on this forum a list of items you have and maybe a couple of club members will make you an offer! I am retired, so have time to do this.

Excellent idea! I think it's been a number of years since the club did a Sell & Swap meet.

I would definitely partake, as I have a number of items to sell.

September time frame would be ideal for me. Probably best after Labor Day, at which point pools are generally closed, and Dunwoody Club house may be available.

I'm not a fan of the garage sale format for an audio/electronics focused sale, as everything'll be exposed to dust, it would be rather cramped, and acoustics not so great.

Also, psychologically, a garage sale setting is problematic, as few garage sale visitors plan on spending more than 20 bucks on anything. As a "last-ditch" effort, maybe. I've sold many old, outdated electronics and computers in garage sales that way, but rarely made over $25 a piece.

Advertising in in the usual places would be a must!

Good afternoon AAC -

I have several pieces of Audio Gear that are in need of selling, discarding, donating, etc. I have a couple ideas and or request...

  1. Should / Can we host a "Yardsale" for the Club where gear can be brought, possibly setup, and sold? Dunwoody Club?
  2. If so, should we make this a public event?
  3. If not, would a "Home" garage sale be of interest?

Final... Is there anyone interested in taking on the task of selling this gear for me? Obviously a fee would be included, but I am just not capable of productively handling the aspects of online sales.

Would love to hear your thoughts, as well as anyone interested in helping me out.

Thanks,

Kyle Stephens
