Found this on Quora in response to someone asking about some Blues music recommendations. The book "Blues For Dummies" also has an extensive list of recommended Blues artists and songs in the Appendix.

BTW - From Wikipedia

"Parchman Farm" or "Parchman Farm Blues" is a blues song first recorded by American Delta blues musician Bukka White in 1940. It is an autobiographical piece, in which White sings of his experience at the infamous Mississippi State Penitentiary, otherwise known as Parchman Farm.

Be sure to check out the version of this song as performed by John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton from 1966. RIP John Mayall who died earlier this week. :(

Great Topic!

I appreciate lists that allow me to discover new albums/artists. Maybe that's why I am slowly collecting all of the KGSR Broadcast CDs which contain two cd's of different artists.

Following a thread from Scott Peterkin's recent post for a new Louis Armstrong album release, I wound up at Jazzwise magazine's website and found an annotated list of their top 100 Jazz albums from way back in 2006 (thanks Scott). I am going to try to match this up with my personal collection of 800 -1,000 Jazz titles and take some notes or identify others I need to check out.

Are there any other best of/master lists out there that you would like to share? I like many types of music including rock, blues, prog rock, fusion, folk, country, classical, etc. I really like guitar music too, so I get a lot of my "leads" from reading various guitar mags. I also view "Sea Of Tranquility" on YouTube for some other recommendations/reviews.

THANKS!

Larry
