Teenage Engineering (TE) is a Swedish firm that manufactures sometimes odd but generally very high quality audio devices, such as their amazing portable BT speaker, the OB-4. They just came out with their new field recorder, the TP-7, which is about the size of a deck of cards and comes with the eye-popping price of $1500.
I was looking for such a recorder and on a lark bought one from B&H Photo. The learning curve is a bit steep and the on-line instructions of how to use it are mediocre at best.
In any event, I slapped on some of my Wave music files and played it back though my ADI-2 DAC and KEF LS50 speakers. Jaw-droppingly good doesn't begin to describe what I heard. The TP-7 has now laid waste to any of my Sony and FiiO DAPs and I now listen to nothing else.
What makes the TP-7 sound so good is a mystery. TE apparently doesn't like its discuss its engineering.
